The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a potential cyclone that may form in the Philippine Area of Responsibility as early as this weekend.

In a report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus, PAGASA administrator Nathaniel Servando said they are monitoring a cloud formation that may become a low-pressure area.

Servando explained that their models show an LPA may form about December 23, and could become a cyclone by Dec. 24 or 25.

But PAGASA forecaster Glaiza Escollar said the country can expect relatively good weather for at least  the next three days.

Earlier, PAGASA said that it was possible that another cyclone may enter or form inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility before the year ended, given the average number of such events.

Filipinos are still reeling from the effects of the last tropical cyclone to enter the PAR - Pablo (Bopha), which left more than 1,000 fatalities.
