The last day of 2011 swell 3ft chest high, strong onshore wind with the wrong swell direction and on and off rain all day. there is no hope to picked up the swell from morning till afternoon, even from high tide to low tide the swell getting worst. zero crowd all day... hopefully the new LPA bringing good swell at cloud 9..

swell 6ft, over head high, there is no changes of the swell quality even from high tide to low tide. stayed swell period has too short. scattered rain shower or on and off  rain today. strong wind blowing from NE. stiil lots of water moving around thats why  cloud 9 zero crowd. some surfers surf at the  surf spot  that close to 101 resort but today due to the christmas party of 101 staff and guests last night all of them still have hang over.

swell 5-6ft and some  bigger set, the problem is the swell period has to short and there is still a lot of water moving around even the wind become medium onshore and the rain on and off today. still zero crowd today from morning til afternoon.

Swell increassing and longer this morning with cross shore light wind blowing from NW and swell direction is better than yesterday, still zero surfer as of 7am the sun shine with scattered rain shower, but in the afternoon medium winds bact to onshore and wave shorter than in the morning,  still no surfer on the water. swell height is 5-6ft over head high solid so only expereinced surfer must be surf at cloud 9 on this time

 "Perfect" todays waves are not perfect but many factors were.Wind Perfect light offshore.Tide Perfect mid incoming.Crowd perfect 1-2.Swell size Perfect solid 3-4ft.But there was just 2 factors missing for TOTAL PERFECTION swell direction was wrong and swell period was too short,causing the wave to have a wonk and be fat or close out.Pictured today is local Rudy who had the typical results of perfect,he was there at 5 on his own caught 1 wave then as he was paddling back out some waves caught him on the head so he made the small decision of bailing instead of duckdiving and when he came up his perfection was gone as his board was snapped in 2.

 What a wonderful December day,swell 4-5ft wind was light and varied all day from crosshore to onshore but didn't make as much difference as the tide was,with the full tide giving it a wonk.Luckily for me all the sheep where still following the flock and weren't following me and i had such a wonderful solo surf at another location where it was perfect offshore,perfect tide and 3-4 ft with some smoking waves still coming through and just me myself and i surfing them,the water was so clear that i was watching the coral cruising under me on the slower waves.The crowd at cloud 9 was good also with up to 6 before 7am then it was only 3 until 9am then grew to around 10 in the afternoon before the wind came up.

 Someone is smiling upon us again,we must have been good little bunnies.The swell has grown to a sizeable 6-7ft althought it is still a bit east to be perfect and it is a bit wonky.Wind has been kind to us today starting light east then moving north then with continual drizzling rain it has become non existant giving us glass cloud 9.Crowd was nothing all day then became 3 as the pic was taken being Kyron the stand up paddle boarder pictured,101's first guest Perran the English bodyboarder and 1 other stand up.

 Conditions are still excellent today but not perfect like yesterday.Swell is around 4ft hopefully kicking up a bit with the incoming tide.Wind is only a light east southeaster which is putting a very slight ruffle on the water but not even noticable on the face of the heavily sucking cloud 9.Crowd is wonderful this morning with only 1 stand up in the water when the picture was taken,yesterdays crowd got up to 16+ which would have been hectic but there was quite a few waves coming through.And the wild Stickman had his gath helmet on with the gopro and couldn't help himself with getting worked and tangled up with a few of the boys,but we were all laughing.

Thank you again Huey,from early today conditions have been perfect.Watching from 101 breeze bar the nice 5ft sets were rolling in and a very light westerly was tickling my back.Waves were absolute glass until 10 when a very light onshore begun but not enough to worry it.Swell was slightly wrong direction and still a little lumpy for good cloud 9 but was still a solid 5ft.Crowd was great not getting over 8 through out the morning and everyone had a smile on their face.

The sun is still shining and the waves are still coming,swell has dropped to 5ft with the occasional 6fters coming through.Sadly the wind has been steadily growing in intensity as the moerning progresses and direction is getting worse also going from east to east north east but is still only medium strength now.Crowd has been very managable all morning never over 8 and 101 guest Hawiaan Kimo had the early very uncrowded and was rather stoked with a couple of "spit outs barrels" on his last day in paradise for 2011.

Happy Days,woke up at 5 looked out the sliding door no wind,went out into 101 breeze bar with a beautiful view of cloud 9 watched a few nice 7fters coming through feeling a light westerly on my back perfect.Once out it was slightly different swell was a solid 7ft but still wonky and a little to north.Crowd was only me,stickman and Perran early then never got over 5 with Kyron and 1 other when the pic was taken at 10am.Sadly at Rock Island yesterday we had another incidence of newer surfers NOT understanding the rules and paddling into the way of a surfer riding the wave,and then saying it wasn't his fault "i couldn't move right it was closing out" no derr mate you were getting a set on the head DONT i repeat DONT paddle into the unbroken part of the wave in front of surfers riding that wave.

Sadly the wind is howling again this morning from early,yesterday evening we had a respite from it after some heavy downpours and the boys were becoming excited 101 guests Hawaiians Kenny and Kimo went out for the late session and came back with quotes "--cking great Mike some nice bowls and all,better than Hawaii at the moment it is flat" so we where anticipating possibly some barrel action today.Swell may have picked up a little to 6ft but hard to accurately tell again due to the mess.Crowd zero.

The wind abaited a little overnight but only a little and the direction is a little better also swinging back to ESE .But the swell seems to have dropped a little also coming down to around the 6ft mark so sadly the other breaks that were starting to work will back off now and wont have enough size to make them any good.Crowd for cloud 9 is zero again,Perran the pommie was going to hit it and then the wind swung from SE to E so even a Englishman wasn't keen enough to hit it.

The swell is a solid 7ft but sadly the wind is a solid 15 knot onshore also so even though the swell is a 10 sec period it still seems like lumpy walls.Wind has been this strong easterly since first light and isn't showing any signs of easing.Crowd appropriately is zero as cloud 9 would only involve a good punishing at this time.

The swell has risen a little to 3ft with the occasional bigger ones coming through early,so hairy reported as i missed the sunrise due to a party at 101 bar last night.Wind this morning is non existant and the waves are pure glass but still all over the place without much line at all.Crowd is goood even at 830am there was only 2 in and not much changing also,the only other person i saw on my picture taking check was Brazillian David who is staying at 101 or 303 and he must come from a different Brazil as he is 1 of the most pleasant people i have ever surfed with quite happily giving waves to anyone even when he has clear priority,life is just amazing "you can never judge a book by it's cover"

The swell increased another foot as predicted to 5ft and also became a little better period,direction becoming a little bit more north.Wind was due southeast early then moved around to become very onshorish easterly but only of light to medium strength.Crowd at 9am was zero with only 1 out at quiksilver as it was better and also Tahiti's or Childkillers as it's also known had a wave also but was unridden as it all can be at this wonderful time of the year.

The swell dropped again today to 2ft and the wind has been onshore all day making conditions good for a day off after the good run of swell we had.Hairy reported that some nice barrels where to be had at the 9 with only a couple of others yesterday.And todays pic is of 1 of the very keen locals,the girl with the best style here Nelvy much better than the stupid female pro from 5 days ago that had her foot lacerated as she rudely paddled up the face of a surfer emerging from a barrel.Seriously do any of you new surfers understand the rule that the surfer riding the wave has TOTAL RIGHT OF WAY meaning DONT paddle in front of them.

Sadly the swell continued to drop and there wasn't an invasion of lids as usual it was an invasion of 29 taiwanese kamakazi surfers that are staying at 101 that made the lineup interesting this morning,swell was back to 3ft.Wind was offshore early then moved around to the north as the morning progressed.Crowd as i mentioned was interesting.

Today the swell has continued to drop to around 3-4ft after it dropped to 5ft yesterday.The sun is shining and the weather is very pleasent today also after yesterdays strong onshore that started around 730 am and continued all day enough that i couldn't get a decent pic so i waited until today.Crowd was horrible yesterday and worse today so much so i didn't even stop for 1 wave as there was at least 15 at 6 and most of them were lids.

The swell was supposed to decrease today and early this morning it seemed to be.It was hard to tell as i awoke at 5 to go for the early hopefully on my own again at the rock but the wind was a howling northerly so that canned that,then proceeded to shift around all day.The swell then as the tide came in jacked up another ft to become a solid 8ft.Crowd was light all day being only those who dared even with the bodyboarders the number was under 10.

The solid swell stayed with us again today,possibly even lifting a bit and became a little straighter again also.Wind was light onshore earlyt then swung to southeast but it doesn't seem to really effect cloud 9 at this size.Crowd was non existant with all the other breaks around the place getting a work out for a change,1 stand up was out when i took todays pic so he is todays man.

The swell kicked a bit again last night and gave us a nice 7ft coming through today.Wind has been nice all day remaining in not bad direction and varying between light and medium strength.Crowd has been contained all day also,with no one out on the lower incoming tide when i took my first set of pics,then when this shot was taken there was about 7 in the water.I was talking to french david in the tower the 2nd time and he said as he was doing a floater yesterday 1 foot came of his board and he was smashed down enough for his hip to dislocate then he was sucked back over and it was pushed back in but with a great deal of pain.

Obviously Huey loves us again.The swell continually picked up through out the day from 3-4ft in the morning to a nice 5ft by midday and ending with the odd 6fters this afternoon.Wind was beautiful all day also starting as a perfect light offshore early then moved around to become a light onshore by lunch then back to offshore in the afternoon.Even the crowd was pleasurable today as the clowns that cant surf or have no idea of the rules or the ediquette weren't there as it is becoming serious.

Today was a totally mixed bag.Swell and wind where all over the place.It started off semi clean,then became windy as hell then glassed off in the afternoon.Swell stayed around 3ft and was still inconsistant and shifty.Crowd varied heaps also more in the morning,less with the wind at lunch and then a shitload in the afternoon.

The swell has risen to 3-4ft as predicted but must have gone through some pretty rough conditions out there in the trench last night as it is as bumpy as hell.Wind was a perfect offshore early then has swung around more to the north as the morning progressed.Crowd was good early with only 4 boogers, 1 stand up and 3 body surfers and by 9am when i arrived it was only me and sunshine coast Peter for half an hr until he snapped his board on a close out.todays pic is a little deceptive as it is only an inside 1 with the body surfers.

The swell has slowly continued dropping to about 1-2ft and has swung a touch to the north.The wind has been very minimal and it's direction has been moving all over the place but with no strength to be a problem.Crowd has been good that i have seen as i only just managed to drag myself out of bed after a big farewell night at 101 bar.

Todays pic is by Michael Traeger again and sadly isn't from today it was yesterday when things where still nice and clean.Swell dropped a ft yesterday and another today to be at 1-2ft.Wind was good yesterday and now onshore even early today just to add some salt to the wound.Crowd was fair to average yesterday with half the crew eventually waking up to the fact that there is many other waves in the small area not just cloud 9,i had it with a happy 5-6 others around lunch time low tide incoming which was the perfect number.

Thank you Huey.Again today the swell stayed with us,it still had a bend in it a lot of the time and the direction moved around to the East a bit but if you where patient you where rewarded,size 3-4ft with the occasional 5fter coming through,Hairy said some 6fters came through cloud 9 late in the afternoon but i was elsewhere surfing on my own as i had at 3 breaks during the day all within sight of cloud 9 so i couldn't verify the call.Wind was extremely pleasant all day just light from a few different directions.Crowd was bad to horrible most of the day.Todays pic was taken by 101 guest Michael from WA.

Thankfully something has changed at last,this dismal cycle of small pusy onshore crap was starting to get to me.The swell lifted by a ft today to around the 2-3ft mark.Wind was perfect offshore early but the became onshore with a storm that came in around 9.Crowd was horrible all day never dropping below 15,so i thought out of the box and ventured out to a break i have only ever seen surfed by 1 pro ever in the 11 years i have been here and appropriately i named it after him being Hoppie's and the serenity i had there was wonderful.

Conditions didn't change much at all again today,still the same small 1-2ft inconsistant swell,still the same onshore wind,still the same not very crowded waves.Hopefully a change is in the winds,magic seaweed is predicting a longer period and a slight rise in swell and the US naval site is saying bigger swell than we are receiving so we can only hope.

Sadly conditions have not improved what so ever with a dismal 1-2ft swell still prevailing giving us a horrible first 2/3 of October which is usually 1 of our more reliable months,hopefully it will be a late season.Wind has continued onshore from the east but thankfully only of light to medium strength.Crowd hasn't be to bad today staying under 15,but yesterday my nephew Cody said it was the worst he had ever seen 40 at cloud 9,30 at quiksilver and another 20 at tahiti's.

Swell and wind have turned cloud 9 into a sad prospect for the last 2 days.Swell has dropped to 1-2ft today,with the wind being a medium strength onshore since 9am yesterday.The only improvement has been the crowd factor staying under 10,and cloud 9 regular "hairy" alias steve hair the 50yr old grommet from cronulla told me he had a good session coming into lunch yesterday getting a few little barrels and the crowd started at around 6 dropping to zero coming into lunch.

The swell from tropical storm Ramon is slowly dissappearing,today it dropped another 2ft down to around the 2ft mark with the occasional 3fters.The swell direction seemed to improve a little with the bigger ones moving back onto the real peak but the consistancy wasn't any better.Wind was non existant early but became a light onshore around 9am.Crowd varied throughout the morning from 10-15.
